Problem was, we thought we were going the week after!
It was my fault. I had got the dates wrong. Natasha had booked the wrong week off work and I had my quiz next week. We’ve also got our friends Rob and Caroline coming this weekend. Fortunately, we’ve managed to rearrange things and we’ll set off on Sunday so as not to mess up the weekend. If not quite panic stations, it certainly focused the mind!
I had planned to continue with my abstract type oils on 16”×16” canvases this week. Due to my cock-up I had reserved Thursday and Friday for doing jobs. Luna is now able to be left in the house out of her crate for a couple of hours morning and afternoon, so I’ve managed to get a few done (8 actually). I’m still really enjoying doing them. I like the relative freedom and license to play. They’ve turned out alright and despite them being based on local scenes, I don’t think I’m going to put them out for AITG but save them as a collection for a gallery. They will look good together.
I think I could be even braver with them and make them even looser and more abstract because I still have a tendency to try and “tidy” them up. As they are specific locations, I feel the need to get a bit of accurate representation in there but it does restrict the abstraction a little.
When we get back from holiday, it will be full steam ahead for AITG. I need to do some varnishing, make labels and do my posters.
When we went to Scarborough we called in to my cousins party. Whilst there and slightly under the influence of Hobgoblin, I promised her 3 children framed “Rock Icon” prints for their rooms. I finally managed to get them printed and framed this week and can get them off before we go away.
I’ve been to Anglesey before. When I was at University we went on an archaeology field trip (piss up). Apart from badly slicing my hand in a slate quarry and visiting some archaeological sites, I can’t remember much about it. It does look beautiful, so I will be taking my painting gear.
Buckinghams returned (as requested) 15 paintings on Wednesday. Unfortunately only 2 are framed but as they are mainly crofts they might end up in Edinburgh or Oban.
I will blog from Wales next week.
